Biography of Geoffrey McDowell, founder of BridgeEllis
Raised in a road transport family, Geoff’s initial work experience was as a stock & station agent in Eastern and Northern Southland, a highly exciting and “customer intimate’ role where relationships were critical to a successful career.

Geoff had a yearning for knowledge and left a much-loved career to complete a double degree in marketing and economics at Otago University. Since leaving university, Geoff gained extensive commercial, marketing and management experience from executive roles within Mobil Oil, New Zealand Couriers, America’s Cup Village 2000, and Broadcast Communications (BCL).

In 2003, Geoff founded BridgeEllis, adopted the information profession, and set about developing his “knowledge hunting” service to address the frustrations many executives face of not having an awareness and accessibility to qualified, accurate and relevant market information.

BridgeEllis in 2008 has a client base spanning most industry sectors and several of New Zealand’s top businesses in both the public and private sectors. BridgeEllis is also established as a leading expert identification company for the New Zealand legal sector.

BridgeEllis is also the majority shareholder in an online collaborative community called VisiWeb, a knowledge sharing portal for the global information profession community.
